Bachipedia – a project of the J.S. Bach Foundation
The J.S. Bach Foundation is performing the entire vocal oeuvre of Johann Sebastian Bach in an ambitious concert cycle lasting around 25 years. The first concert took place in 2006, and since then, all introductory workshops, concerts and reflective lectures have been recorded on video. Over the years, we have amassed an extensive collection of audio and film material as well as other content related to the master’s works. One of the Foundation’s aims is to raise the profile of Bach’s vocal oeuvre – especially among the young. To this end, the Foundation established the “Bachipedia” platform. BACH FACTORY on BWV 129 "Gelobet sei der Herr, mein Gott"
The “Bach Factory” is a video series by the J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen that gives you interesting insights into Bach’s cantatas – including exclusive excerpts from their live performance.
Xoán Elías Castiñeira and Rudolf Lutz speak about J.S. Bach’s cantata BWV 129, «Gelobet sei der Herr, mein Gott» and explain its meaning. In this cantata, Bach transforms the original chorale text by Johann Olearius (a song of praise) into music. How does he do it musically, and how does the cantata communicate its theme – the mystery of the Trinity?
The concert recording, introductory workshop and reflective lecture (in German) are available at Bachipedia.
