BACH FACTORY on BWV 129 "Gelobet sei der Herr, mein Gott"

The “Bach Factory” is a video series by the J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen that gives you interesting insights into Bach’s cantatas – including exclusive excerpts from their live performance.

Xoán Elías Castiñeira and Rudolf Lutz speak about J.S. Bach’s cantata BWV 129, «Gelobet sei der Herr, mein Gott» and explain its meaning. In this cantata, Bach transforms the original chorale text by Johann Olearius (a song of praise) into music. How does he do it musically, and how does the cantata communicate its theme – the mystery of the Trinity?

The concert recording, introductory workshop and reflective lecture (in German) are available at Bachipedia.
