BACH FACTORY on BWV 34 "O ewiges Feuer, o Ursprung der Liebe"

The “Bach Factory” is a video series by the J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen that gives you interesting insights into Bach’s cantatas – including exclusive excerpts from their live performance.

In this workshop, Xoán Castiñeira and Rudolf Lutz explore J.S. Bach’s cantata BWV 34 «O ewiges Feuer, o Ursprung der Liebe» (O fire everlasting, O fountain of loving). The cantata is rather unusual: Parts of it go back to a secular wedding cantata, which the librettist skillfully reshaped into a Pentecost piece. So how does this work – musically and thematically?

The concert recording, introductory workshop and reflective lecture (in German) are available at Bachipedia.
